First Grade Newsletter: October 2021
Fall is finally here! Where did the
first month of first grade go? I hope that everyone is adjusting to the demands
of first grade. I certainly enjoy teaching your children. Here is what we
will be working on this month.
Reading- Your
child will need to complete one book report by the end of this month. Our
October Book Report is due on October 27th. Please see notation at the end of this
newsletter.
Language Arts-
We will be learning about questions and exclamations. Writing sentences,
nouns, and plural nouns will also be explored. We will also spend time
writing complete sentences.
Math- We will be working on sums and differences to 10.
Social Studies-
We continue to learn more about rules and responsibilities. This month, we will
be learning more about fire safety and Christopher Columbus. We also will
participate in “Red Ribbon Week” at the end of the month. This important week
will stress how important it is to be “drug free”.
Science- We will
be exploring living things.
Religion- We will
be learning more about God, our Father and Creator. We will also be learning about
Jesus, the Son of God. Please be sure that your child continues to practice The
Lord’s Prayer and The Hail Mary.

*Please make sure that you check the
corrected work your child brings home everyday. Also, you may want to save
work, as it may be good review for an upcoming test.
*Please be sure that your child is prepared to go out for
recess each day. As the weather gets colder they will need to wear coats,
boots, etc. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
